Who was walking who?

A few days ago I went on a llama walk with the cousins. There were 8 people altogether, but we only got 4 llamas. The other people had to walk alpacas. We had to give the llamas 2 carrot stops. Dad and I got a kiss from the alpaca when we put a bit of carrot between our lips. I got a alpaca called Pedro and it had 2 speeds - not moving or running! It was quite hard to control him but it was a really fun experience. I would definitely do it again.

What can you do in the back yard?

Have you ever shot an air rifle? I got to shoot one in Uncle Chris's back garden while I was in England. We made some targets out of tin cans and we lay down on the ground. The gun had a scope so you could see the target better and line it up before you pulled the trigger. The hardest part was reloading the gun because you had to snap the barrel open, reload the gun and then snap the barrel back onto the gun. I needed help with it sometimes. It was not very easy to hit the target but I hit it a few times. I felt like a soldier when I was shooting the gun and I had to be extremely careful to not hurt or damage anything else.

Magic and the farrier.

Some of my cousins live in Sussex, next to the Ashdown forest. They have 2 cats and a horse. The horse is called Magic and he is a piebald pony, which means he is white with black splodges. When we went to visit Magic we saw the farrier. A farrier is a person who fits horse shoes to the horses feet. He has a special furnace in his van to heat up the shoe and he hits it into shape, before he fits onto the horse. It does not hurt the horse when he bangs on the shoe with nails.

I got to ride Magic in a little field. When I first rode Magic we went around the field in a walk. After a few minutes we tried trot but trotting is a bit bumper, so to make it more comfortable we have to stand up and then sit down. When a horse is trotting its legs move in diagonal pairs. I felt happy riding Magic because it's good fun working together.
