Winter Learning Journey Day 6

Matariki Festival in Wellington.

I enjoyed the festival and learnt that Makariki is a time for friends and family to get together to celebrate the Maori New Year.

The three things I did were:

  • I tried out the food. The food was super.

  • I watched the fireworks on the Wellington waterfront.

  • I explored the Maori culture and traditions by weaving a kite out of flax.

Hello Toby!

It's so great that you learned about what Matariki is and experienced some of the activities from the festival!

Thanks for sharing photos of yourself weaving flax! It's so awesome that you were able to give it a go.

Nicky :)
