I enjoyed the festival and learnt that Makariki is a time for friends and family to get together to celebrate the Maori New Year.
The three things I did were:
- I tried out the food. The food was super.
- I watched the fireworks on the Wellington waterfront.
- I explored the Maori culture and traditions by weaving a kite out of flax.
