Diwali

Diwali is celebrated by Hindus and it is the new year.  Diwali is usually celebrated 18 days after Dussehra.Wherever Diwali is being celebrated you will see shops, houses and public places decorated with small, earthenware, oil lamps known as diyas. They are usually put on window sills in rows for decoration. Hindus will start their Diwali celebrations on October 28th. Lots of Hindu celebrate Diwali. Hindus eat veg, goat and sometimes lamb and for pudding they eat sweet meat, a Hindu sweet. Hindus like to set of fireworks.fireworks  as part of their celebration.

The Manaiakalani film festival.

• Yesterday my class and I went to the Manaiakalani film festival and we watched a lot of really good movies and I was presenting room 11’s movie!

• Some people  went before the rest of the school and I was one of them! The reason some people went first is because they are presenting and that means they read a couple of sentences to explain what their movie is about. When reading you can do it solo or with a buddy and I did it solo. I was really happy that I was chosen because there is a BIG crowd to read in front of  but it helped that I could not see them but I knew that they could see me because there was a big light shining at me! After the first round of movies some of the presenters went back to school but I had to stay to do another one. 

• When I finally got back to school I thought that our classes movie was the second best out of all the movies.

Rangitoto

When I get older I want to go to Rangitoto and climb to the top and then see all the wildlife like the birds and I would like to see if I can find a tuatara if they live there. After that I would like to go fishing in a little bay where my family go fishing and I once saw a big king fish next to my bait.
