🌎 Toby's Summer Learning Journey 🌎
Activity 2
Offering a helping Hand
Imagine that you were alive in the 1930s. What could you have done to help these families? On your blog, list three different ways that you could raise funds for families to help them buy food and clothing. Be as creative as you can with your fundraising ideas!
⭐ Raffle (Again I would need to ask shops to donate toys (like a big Lego set) so I could put it in the raffle)
⭐ Baking at home - I could make some biscuits at home to sell. To make a bigger amount of money I could ask my friends to bake food to sell.
Activity 3
Paying it forward
Imagine that you were able to travel back in time to visit a family in the 1930s. What special gifts or treats would you like to bring with you?
I would take back
- medicine (in case some people were sick)
- glow sticks.because they are lots of fun for kids
- chocolate (like Snickers, Milky way and Pineapple lumps
- torch and batteries
- A Lego set from today
- Snakes and Ladders game
- A newspaper

Kia ora Toby,
My name is Megan and I am part of the Summer Learning Journey team who have been commenting on your posts this summer. It looks like you have been doing an incredible job with your activities and I am excited to be part of your adventure.
These are 3 awesome fundraising activities that you have thought about. Have you completed any of these fundraisers in the past? When I was younger we used to fundraise for my swimming competitions. We often sold boxes of chocolate but my family had a little problem where we would eat most of the chocolate. I think my parents ended up spending just as much as I would make. We would also help out at sports competitions like the Taupo Ironman and my club would be paid for our volunteering. I think if I was to fundraise now I would get craft and make soaps, candles, and Christmas decorations. Are you crafty or creative? It sounds like you like lego, maybe you could make some amazing lego structures that you could sell.
I really like your idea of taking a newspaper back to the 1930's. This is an awesome idea as the children can see what life is going to be like in 90 years time. If you were to have a visitor from the 31st century what would you like them to bring back and show you?
I have loved reading all your awesome ideas. Keep up the amazing work.
Have a lovely day,
Megan
