Activity 1
Activity 1: Popular Culture – The Silent Movie
The most popular type of movies showing at local NZ cinemas were ‘silent’ films. Gold Rush and The Lion's Cage are examples of iconic silent films. They feature a famous actor named Charlie Chaplin.
I liked The Lion's Cage the best because he got stuck in a lions cage and could not get out! Lots of funny things happened in the movie. The best part was when he tried to get put of the lion's cage and found himself in the tiger's cage next door. The tiger was awake and he figured he would rather be with a sleeping lion than an awake tiger!
Activity 2 - Art Deco
I gave the painting a rating of ⭐⭐
I thought the painting was a bit boring because it was a girl in a car and there was nothing else to look at.

Kia Ora Toby,
Cadence here from the Summer Learning Journey team! How are you going?
Great work at completing two more activities!
Activity 1: Great stuff! You seem like you would enjoy watching this movie, it’s quite different to the movies being today aye. I agree, it is a very funny movie, the character seems to do a lot of clumsy but funny things… My favourite part was at the end when he had climbed up the tall poll and pretended to flap down like a bird to the lady waiting at the bottom.
What did you think of the main actor Charlie Chaplin?
I thought he was very funny with his expressions. What do you think?
Activity 2: Thanks for your honesty with this activity. I can understand what you mean, one thing I am curious about though is where she is going… what do you think? Maybe she is waiting somewhere or she could be driving out of town…
Keep up the great work Toby, hope to hear from you soon.
Cadence :)
